Seth Rollins Says He Has Three Years Left On Contract, Wants To Remain With WWE In Any Role

Seth Rollins wants to be with WWE for the long term.
Having signed with the company in August 2010, it took just over two years before Seth Rollins was a major part of WWE’s main roster. 14 years later, and with six world championships to look back on, the 40-year-old is one of the bigger stars of his generation, and he’s now looking ahead to the next portion of his career.
Speaking to Sports Business Journal, Rollins spoke about what happens when his in-ring career winds down, saying he’d like to remain part of the WWE family past active competition in any role they’d have him.
“When I started to look at the second half of my life, as my wrestling career starts to wind down, there’s obviously an avenue for me to continue to be a part of the WWE family, and I want to do that for as long as I can and as long as they’ll have me, whether that’s in a creative role, backstage role and/or an on-screen role. I realize now is the time where I’m sort of at the peak of my game in WWE. If there’s ever a time to get those opportunities, it’s going to be when you have the most spotlight on you. There are a lot of WWE stars who have done film and have been successful at it. I love movies and I love watching them, but I don’t love the process of making a film or a TV show. What I love is the live TV aspect. I love conversations. Obviously, I love football. So I put all those things together and said, ‘Let’s figure out how to parlay this into something.’”

Speaking on his immediate future, Rollins confirmed he has three years left on his current deal.
“Right now, I’ve got three years left on my WWE contract — I’ll be 43 when that’s up. I want to be with WWE as long as I can continue to contribute and feel I’m helping the product, as opposed to taking up space that could be better utilized for younger talent.”

Already having one eye on the future, Rollins is a co-founder of the Black And Brave Wrestling Academy, located in his hometown of Davenport, Iowa. The school has been open since 2014, with its most notable alumni being current WWE Superstar Nathan Frazer.
Rollins has been off our screens since his loss to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam Sunday, though he’s remained active as part of their recent tour of South America. At present, when he returns to TV remains to be seen, though it seems he wants to prioritise helping out the next generation rather than get in the way of their progress. As such, many will be keen to see how the rest of Rollins’ career plays out both in the ring and perhaps in a backstage role.
