Earlier this year, long-time WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon shockingly announced his retirement, prompting Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque to return to the company as both the Head of Talent Relations and Head of Creative. As a result, a number of names close to Triple H have either returned to the company, or have been elevated into new roles, including Shawn Michaels, who now serves as the ‘Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative’, effectively running NXT.
Appearing on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Michaels discussed his new roles, noting that whilst he doesn’t have the experience that Levesque does in these types of scenarios, he’s ready to give it his all and grow into the position.
“Yeah, and I still don’t know how I’m doing yet. Look, I think—I hope, and I really do. Hunter’s been built, and trained, and all of that for it. I haven’t, but at the same time, I’m developing too down here. And it is, it’s something new. Again, I enjoy it. I’m clearly different, and I don’t know, I’m a bit less sharp, less distinguished as I mentioned to you. Being here, and I think my attitude here at the training center and at NXT, it’s about youth, and it’s about fun. I do know that I bring that. I’m obviously older, but I am still a kid inside. I don’t have a mature bone in my body. I’ve literally tried.”
-Shawn Michaels
Elsewhere during the podcast, Michaels stated that him not being invited to company board meetings wouldn’t bother him, as he believes it’d likely mean he’d done something wrong, and thus his focus currently remains on ensuring NXT are able to develop the future talents of the industry.
