The former WWE Champion looks set for a spell on the sidelines.

Sheamus has been absent from WWE TV since coming up short in a match with Edge on the August 18th episode of SmackDown, a match that many believe could’ve been the Rated-R Superstar’s final bout for the company amid rumours of a move to AEW.

Speaking on the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Sheamus is currently dealing with a shoulder injury, hence his absence from in-ring action.

“Sheamus, really bad shoulder injury by the way. That’s why he hasn’t been on TV or at the House Shows.”

-Dave Meltzer

Earlier this month, Fightful Select reported that Sheamus’ WWE contract is set to expire in 2024, and thus, it’ll be interesting to see whether any additional time is added to said contract, depending on the extent of the injury.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Sheamus’ injury status as soon as we hear more, and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
