STARDOM continues its 2024 with a PPV in Nagoya on March 20 with nine matches. The show features the semi-finals and the final of the Cinderella Tournament, Giulia & Tam Nakano facing off in a Singles Match one more time and a World of Stardom Championship match.
The final Giulia vs. Tam Nakano match was more of a “greatest hits” match and didn’t have the excitement of their past matches. The entire match and post-match felt a bit weird and surreal, but it somehow fits perfectly to Giulia. It wasn’t a fairytale goodbye rather the opposite, which fits. It resembled what Giulia is about as a Wrestler & Character.
In the Cinderella tournament, Ami Sohrei defeated AZM and Hanan defeated Ruaka to advance to the final, where the two faced off. It was a heated and fast-paced match with great near falls and a fantastic Hanan performance. She was able to win the match with the Backdrop Driver to win the Cinderella Tournament and get a wish, which is to challenge for the Wonder of Stardom Championship. Hanan’s story in this Cinderella is booked perfectly with her going through her rivals and ending with the crowning moment.
In the main event of the show, Maika defeated Utami Hayashishita to retain the World of Stardom Championship after a barnburner. This is Maika’s match to be established on top of Stardom and a moment Maika fans have been waiting for her entire career. She & Utami worked an epic-style match with a slow pace that picked up well in the second half of the match. Maika escaped the BT Bomb multiple times and won the match with the wristlock Michinoku Driver II.
After the match, Momo Watanabe tried to attack Maika & Utami to make her challenge known, but Maika said her next challenger is her Divine Kingdom Tag Team Partner Megan Bayne at the Philidelphia show on April 4th. A perfect next defense for the Empress, which will potentially steal the show at Wrestlemania weekend.
