We now have a major update on the rumoured NYC-based Joshi promotion starting up this Fall.

Earlier this summer, PWInisder revealed that a new promotion featuring Japanese women’s wrestlers would be starting in NYC this Fall, with some of the names previously reported to be involved being Tomoka Inaba, Arisa Nakajima, and Risa Sera. Additionally, former Bushiroad consultants are believed to be working with the promotion, and both short and long-form anime content is expected.

PWInsider have now shared a press release that was issued to them, revealing that the promotion will be named ‘Sukeban’ as an ode to the girl gangs of the 1960s and 70s that helped bring Feminism to the forefront of Japan, with their first event set for September 21st at Capitale in NYC.

“Sukeban, the first ever Joshi women’s wrestling company outside of Japan featuring an entirely Japanese roster, will hold its World Premiere event on September 21, 2023 at Capitale in New York City. Featuring the strongest women’s roster in North America, Sukeban will hearken back to the glory days of Joshi wrestling to present the authentic, hard-hitting, phenomenal Joshi experience.”

A full roster reveal was also within the press release, with both names and gimmicks being altered for copyright reasons, as previously reported by PWInsider. Talent were noted as having signed long-term deals with Sukeban.
