Suzu Suzuki Wins Her First 5 Star Grand Prix Match

STARDOM returned to the Loisir Hotel Toyohashi Holiday Hall on Sunday for Night 2 of the 5★STAR Grand Prix. The event featured eight tournament matches involving some of the promotion’s biggest stars, including World of Stardom Champion Suzu Suzuki and Wonder of Stardom Champion Hanan.

Hanan began festivities when she caught Kikyo Furusawa with the Blockbuster Hold to secure the victory in 7:34. Koguma then notched her second consecutive tournament win by rolling up Ami Sourei in 7:08, just one day after losing the Artist of Stardom Championships to Triangle of Madness. Ruaka followed that by earning her second tournament victory as well, defeating Rian in a brisk 5:34.

Following that, Maki Itoh outlasted Mei Seira to earn her first-ever victory in the 5★STAR Grand Prix after 10:23. Tomoka Inaba then bounced back with something of an upset, defeating Natsuko Tora in 8:48.

The business end of the card saw World of Stardom Champion Suzu Suzuki begin her 5★STAR campaign with a hard-fought victory over Hina in an impressive 10:35 contest. Rina Yamashita and Utami Hayashishita then battled to the tournament’s first draw, reaching the 15-minute time limit in a bruising encounter. In the main event, and what many will consider the Match of the Tournament so far, Sayaka Kurara survived Rina’s relentless onslaught to secure her second victory of this year’s competition to the delight of the Toyohashi crowd.

The 5★STAR Grand Prix rolls into Night 3 on Monday, with standout matches including AZM vs. Maika, Sayaka Kurara vs. Tomoka Inaba, and Saya Iida vs. Lady C.
