Sheamus Reportedly Still Under WWE Contract Until October 1

Sheamus is not yet a free agent despite confirming his WWE departure.
On July 5, Fightful Select reported that Sheamus was set to leave WWE after turning down a new, restructured deal to remain with the company. Sheamus has since confirmed his departure across social media, although details regarding when he would become a free agent had remained unclear until now.
With speculation continuing to build regarding Sheamus’ future, Fightful Select have now provided an update on his contract status, revealing that he remains under contract with WWE and is set to become a free agent on October 1.
“Fightful Select has learned that Sheamus remains under contract, and is set to become a free agent on October 1. We’re not sure the circumstances around that, but it would match up with Sheamus having a 90-day termination period after officially rejecting the restructured deal.”

The report additionally notes that Fightful were initially told WWE’s offer to Sheamus was not presented as an ultimatum, unlike some previous deals, making it interesting to see whether he will be subject to a non-compete clause following his departure.
Following confirmation of his WWE departure, many fans have speculated on potential destinations for the former four-time world champion, with the possibility of Sheamus joining All Elite Wrestling and reuniting with Claudio Castagnoli proving to be a popular idea.
Shortly after reports of his WWE exit emerged, WrestleVotes revealed that a high-level WWE official advocated for Sheamus with TKO, while also noting that the former world champion would be open to the possibility of working for AEW. You can read more about that here.
