Swerve Strickland Says Kofi Kingston Is One Of The Top Five Greatest To Ever Do It

AEW’s Swerve Strickland has high praise for Kofi Kingston.
Having debuted in 2006, Kofi Kingston has two decades of experience in professional wrestling. He signed with WWE less than a year into his career, going on to win four Intercontinental Championships, three United States Championships and an astonishing 16 tag team titles with the company before finally reaching the mountaintop by becoming WWE Champion in 2019. Now, with incredible success to look back on, one AEW star has offered immense praise for Kingston.
Speaking on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Swerve Strickland called Kofi Kingston one of the top five to ever do it.
“It’s hard to find anybody that has anything negative to say about him. He’s had such a polished record for 20 years. Never a bad thing to say about. Never in the news about anything. Never said the wrong things. Never been in the wrong places. He’s like the epitome of professionalism when it comes to that, especially in our culture. You look at Kofi as one of the top five greatest to ever do it. He’s truly a role model, but he’s the model type of role model. He’s the perfect type of role model.”

Over the last 20 years, it would’ve been hard for any fan to imagine Kofi wrestling anywhere other than WWE. However, last Saturday, news broke that he and Xavier Woods had departed the company, with it believed they decided to leave after TKO attempted to restructure their contracts. Now, attention turns to what will be next for The New Day once the waiting period has passed.
While there’s been no word on their future, Swerve may soon come face to face with Kofi, as AEW talent are believed to be pushing for the company to sign both him and Austin Creed. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on both Swerve Strickland and Kofi Kingston as soon as we hear more.
