The New Level Tease Potential Match With The Elite

The New Level are eyeing a match with The Elite now that they are part of AEW.

From the moment Austin Creed and Kofi, now known as The New Level, arrived in All Elite Wrestling at All In: London, the potential for several high-profile match-ups increased considerably. Almost immediately, Creed, Kofi, and their new third man, Swerve Strickland, began posting videos mocking The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, teasing a potential feud that has been years in the making.

In a conversation with Jon Alba, Kofi referenced the iconic 2018 E3 Street Fighter “feud” and discussed how it ultimately led to where everyone involved finds themselves today.

“We have wanted to work with The Young Bucks and Kenny [Omega] and The Elite for a very, very long time. I’m getting real hippie and manifestation and energetic and everything. But this is something that we talked about, man. That wasn’t supposed to happen, but that was the universe saying, ‘Hey, I’m gonna give you a little taste. I’m gonna give you a little taste, but I’m not gonna let you touch it for six, seven years now, but then it’s gonna come back around, everybody’s gonna see that it’s possible. So that, to me, that’s where the excitement comes in, is the possibility.”

At the time of writing, there are multiple ways AEW could build towards a clash between the two groups. A key part of All In: London, where The New Level made their debut, saw them face several of the division’s legendary tag teams, including The Young Bucks.

However, The New Level and Swerve Strickland captured the AEW World Trios Championship that night, while The Elite are two-time former holders of the titles. On top of that, Swerve and Kenny Omega are due to have their rubber match, providing another potential route towards a larger confrontation between the two groups.

The Young Bucks have been teasing a potential confrontation with The New Level for months on Being The Elite, including a watch-along of their famous Street Fighter confrontation at E3 2018. Whenever and however it eventually happens, the match-up is likely to generate significant interest after all these years.
