The Hollywood megastar is eyeing a mammoth WrestleMania clash.

On January 1st at WWE’s Day 1 edition of Monday Night RAW, The Rock made his shocking return to the company, interrupting Jinder Mahal before teasing a potential clash with his cousin and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns by asking the WWE Universe whether he should sit “at the Head of the Table” when he goes out to eat that tonight.

Since then, speculation has been rife as to whether the bout would, in fact, happen at WrestleMania 40 this April. Speaking on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that whilst The Rock is yet to make the match official, it is something he would like to do, although there are also said to be forces interested in the match happening in Saudi Arabia instead.

“He (The Rock) has not signed as of today for WrestleMania. It is absolutely in play, it is not a done deal. He wants to do WrestleMania this year. There are forces that are interested in how much value he could bring to Saudi Arabia. He would rather do WrestleMania as it stands now. There’s balls in play, nothing is 100%.”

Meltzer then elaborated on the prospect of Saudi Arabia hosting the dream match, noting that there are those who’d like to convince The Rock that he could make significantly more money there, however nothing is clear as of yet, with the former WWE Champion still eyeing WrestleMania.

“There are people who would like to convince him if they can make a tons of extra money from Saudi Arabia, to do it there. And we don’t know the answers, it’s all in the process of being worked out right now. But he is absolutely looking at doing a match with Roman Reigns, he is absolutely looking at doing it at WrestleMania, it’s not signed.”

Earlier today, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was announced as a new member of TKO’s Board of Directors, and thus, the 51-year-old may now have a greater incentive to deliver what many consider to be the biggest match the company can currently put together.

What a Mania clash between the two Anoa’i family members would mean for Cody Rhodes remains to be seen. Last year’s Royal Rumble winner has been insistent on “finishing the story” since he returned to WWE, and after losing to Reigns in the main event of last year’s WrestleMania, many are hopeful that he’ll get a second shot this year.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the possibility of The Rock facing Roman Reigns at either WrestleMania 40 or in Saudi Arabia as soon as we hear more.
