AEW’s Revolution PPV saw the curtains close on the in-ring career of The Icon, Sting.
Sting and Darby Allin were victorious in their AEW Tag Team Championship match as they faced off against AEW EVPs, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson in a match that saw panes of glass shattered and numerous tables turned to rubble.
Sting and The Young Bucks both felt incredibly highly of the match. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Sting and The Young Bucks were overjoyed by the match that came together.
“Sting told The Young Bucks after that he thought it was one of the three best matches of his career. If you throw in the emotion, it probably was although it was hardly what one would call a classic style great wrestling match, but more a crazy spectacle that got over big live. Both Young Bucks thought it was among their all-time favorite performances with Nick saying he may have been the most fun he’s ever had in a match and both said it would be a night they’d never forget.”

Darby Allin & Sting were the victors on the evening, with the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion’s final match beginning with a video package of ‘The Icon’ in a theatre as a film of countless great moments of his nearly four-decade career rolled on. Sting was also joined during his entrance by two of his sons, both adorned in Sting gear, with one donning a Wolfpac Sting outfit and the other as Surfer Sting.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Sting, Darby Allin, & The Young Bucks as soon as we hear more.
