Thekla Recalls Being Harsh To A Fan After Being Stopped At The Airport
Thekla discusses being pursued by a fan at the airport.
When wrestling in a major company, having a strong fanbase is just par for the course. But, unfortunately, certain fans go to extreme lengths to try and meet the wrestlers they see on TV, including waiting outside of hotels and at airports. These kind of interactions remain prevalent today despite many stars having called for more personal space, and a former AEW Women’s World Champion has recalled snapping at a fan who followed her at the airport.
In a chat with TMZ’s Inside The Ring, Thekla revealed one time she truly went off on one of those fans.
“Something I don’t love, and I will say this. I can be really harsh sometimes when I get stopped at the airport. I’m not in my zone. I got a thousand things on my mind. I’m a civilian. One time, I remember I was walking. I was obviously really walking fast, and I could see from the back of my eye. I had already kind of given somebody the nod like, ‘Not now. Not now, btch.’ And then he kept on walking. I stopped, froze, looked him in the eye and was like, ‘Not fcking now! Okay?’ If I give you the no nod, don’t f*ck with me. I actually kind of felt really bad because he looked mortified. He might not ever talk to anybody ever again. That may have been one of the worst human interactions of his life.”

While most wouldn’t normally expect talent to fire back at fans, it’s fair to say incidents like this show fans overstepping the mark, and are incredibly frustrating for performers. Sadly, this kind of thing happens often in the wrestling community, with videos often surfacing online showing wrestlers from both AEW and WWE having to navigate crowds of people at the airport trying to get things signed.
