Thekla would like to see Kairi Sane join All Elite Wrestling.

On April 24, a number of WWE Superstars were reportedly released by the company, with one of the most surprising departures being former Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane. With speculation mounting regarding her future, a major All Elite Wrestling star has now revealed that they could see the ‘Pirate Princess’ making her way to the promotion.

Speaking to Branson Quirke for TMZ’s Inside The Ring, AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla was asked whether she could see Kairi Sane joining All Elite Wrestling.

“I think she’s an outstanding talent and I could totally see her in AEW. I think that would be cool. I’m always happy to see new people who are good, who have a reputation, who have a look. She knows how to do an entrance. Of course, you always gotta be careful. Protect yourself. The locker room’s small. You can’t have too many people in there. Otherwise, it gets cramped. But Kairi’s sick. She could totally elevate the product if they gave her a chance.”

Thekla is set to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against a trio of former champions as she takes on Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, and Jamie Hayter at Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 24 at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.

Kairi Sane’s future remains uncertain. While many fans are hoping to see her join All Elite Wrestling, a return to her home country of Japan is also on the cards, with speculation already circulating about a potential return to World Wonder Ring Stardom or a reunion with Rossy Ogawa in Marigold.

Elsewhere during the interview, Thekla reflected on her decision to re-sign with All Elite Wrestling earlier this year. You can read more about that here.
