We now have an update on The Elite’s likely next move amid speculation regarding their contract status.

Over the past few months, many fans have been speculating about what the future will hold for The Elite, with the stable’s AEW contracts believed to be up in early 2024 amid reported interest from WWE. It now appears as though we have a better idea of the likely outcome of this ongoing contract sage.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an update on The Elite’s contract negotiations, reporting that there is a “prevailing belief” that the quartet will be staying with AEW.

“The prevailing belief is that the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Adam Page are staying. The interview Omega did off the air in Boston would have led you to believe that is the case.”

Fightful Select had previously reported that WWE were of the belief that they had a chance to land Kenny Omega specifically, with Omega himself having implied in interviews that he’s interested in taking on new challengers.

Meltzer additionally reported, however, that whilst said interest from WWE was legitimate, this has now gone cold, thus furthering the belief that he’s edging closer to extending his deal with AEW.

“We do know from a WWE standpoint that months ago they had the impression they had a good shot at Omega in 2024 and he was the most coveted of all the guys being talked about like Jay White and the others. That has gone cold so they do believe he’s staying with AEW. Tony Khan making these big offers indicates hope or thoughts of a huge rate increase, in which case big money deals make economic sense.”

The Elite were last seen on AEW television during the July 19th episode of Dynamite, teaming with Kota Ibushi as the Golden Elite to defeat the Blackpool Combat Club, Konosuke Takeshita, and PAC in Blood & Guts.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on The Elite’s contract negotiations with AEW as soon as we hear more.
