Despite appearing on Dynamite this past Wednesday, Thunder Rosa is unlikely to be returning to the ring any time soon.

This past Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite saw the former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa, who’s been absent from the ring since August of last year due to injury. Initially, an Interim Women’s Championship was created during her absence, however, upon realising her injury was more severe than initially thought, the decision was made for Rosa to vacate the title.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an interesting update on Rosa’s injury status, noting that despite her TV return this past Wednesday, she may potentially require back surgery, and thus an in-ring return doesn’t appear to be imminent.

“Thunder Rosa may need back surgery. But right now her returning to the ring doesn’t appear to be imminent.”

Fightful Select had also reported late last month that there was fears within AEW that Thunder Rosa may need back surgery.

During recent weeks, Rosa has been present at AEW Dynamite tapings, providing her voice as a member of the Spanish commentary team.

As of writing, we’re yet to have a specific timetable for Rosa’s in-ring return, however as always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates as soon as we hear more.
