Recent AEW returnee Thunder Rosa is said to still be struggling with a back injury, despite being back on TV.
Thunder Rosa was missing from AEW TV since September of last year due to a back injury which forced her to vacate the women’s title. The star hasn’t competed in a match since August 10 but re-emerged on last night’s AEW Dynamite when she was seen walking into Tony Khan’s office.
Many are wondering about the condition of Rosa following a long stint away from the ring and Dave Meltzer has attempted to clarify the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio. It’s been said that Rosa is still struggling with the back injury which initially kept her out and it’s unclear what role she will take up if she continues to have to be on the sidelines.
“Rosa’s back is really bad. I was kinda surprised, I mean she’s been at the tapings every week and I know that when she’s trained in the ring, they showed one of them on All Access and granted that was months ago, but I’ve heard still, when she’s training, she’s hurting, a lot. Her back is not better.
They reintroduced her, so I don’t know what the role would be, I didn’t get the impression she was ready to return so quickly.”

Rosa was women’s champion for over 170 days but found herself embroiled in backstage controversy with Britt Baker which has come to light on AEW: All Access, whether this is referenced on screen going forward now that the 36-year-old is back remains to be seen.
