Tony Khan Reveals He Wanted Aaron Wolf & The Knockout Brothers At Forbidden Door

Tony Khan wanted to see Aaron Wolf and the Knockout Brothers at Forbidden Door.
On June 28, All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, CMLL, and STARDOM came together to present Forbidden Door at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. While a host of stars from all four promotions featured on the show, AEW President Tony Khan would have liked to have seen three more NJPW names in action.
Speaking to Q101 in a new interview, Tony Khan revealed that Aaron Wolf and the Knockout Brothers were among the NJPW stars he would have liked to have available for the show, while leaving the door open for their involvement in future events.
“There were a number of wrestlers I really wanted to come that did not have the visas or were not in New Japan’s plans to send over. Aaron Wolf and the Knockout Brothers. I really wanted to get over here, and a number of those people were not sent over, but I’d like to work with them in the future. I really like Aaron Wolf and I really like the Knockout Brothers… there are a lot of young wrestlers in Japan right now that I am interested in.”

Elsewhere during the interview, Tony Khan announced that AEW All Out will take place at the NOW Arena in Chicago on Saturday, September 26, marking the fourth edition of the pay-per-view to be held at the venue.
Before AEW returns to Chicago, however, New Japan Pro-Wrestling will bring the opening night of G1 Climax 36 to the NOW Arena on July 11, where NEVER Openweight Champion and Olympic gold medalist Aaron Wolf begins his debut campaign against HENARE.
For Yuto-Ice and OSKAR, collectively known as the Knockout Brothers, their first-ever G1 Climax appearances will see them face Great O-Khan and Ren Narita respectively as they set their sights on singles success following a historic IWGP Tag Team Championship reign.
The main event of Night One of G1 Climax 36 will see IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji take on AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita in a Wrestle Kingdom 20 rematch. Following Tsuji’s boycott of Forbidden Door and the subsequent exchange of respectful comments with Tony Khan, the IWGP Heavyweight Champion recently invited the AEW President to attend the show. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on plans for future instalments of Forbidden Door as soon as we hear more.
