img 8861

Trick Williams is focused on elevating the United States Championship.

Since Jacob Fatu won the United States Championship from LA Knight at WrestleMania 41, fans have seen five different stars hold the title. With Sami Zayn, Carmelo Hayes, and Ilja Dragunov defending the gold every week, the longest anyone was able to hold the title was just 98 days. Now, having already moved away from open challenges, Trick Williams has offered his vision for the United States Championship.

In an interview with WISTV, Trick Williams said he wants the United States Championship to mean more than ever.

“We’ve got to keep it going, man. We’ve got to make this title right here, this United States championship, you know, mean something. I want to main event SmackDowns. I want to make this title, mean more than it’s ever meant before. You know what I mean? I want to bring SmackDown to new heights. I want to do things that’s never been done before. I want to cement my legacy in the game.”

Trick won the title by defeating Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42, with WWE looking to highlight the likes of Williams, Oba Femi, and Je’Von Evans as talent for fans to get excited about for the future. He retained the title in a rematch with Zayn at Backlash, and attention now turns to who on the SmackDown roster will be next to challenge for the gold.

A big part of Trick Williams’ presentation as United States Champion has been Lil Yachty, with the music star forming an alliance with the former NXT Champion prior to WrestleMania. Speaking about their on-screen partnership, Williams recently revealed that Yachty wants to train to make his in-ring debut. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Trick Williams as soon as we hear more.
