Since Vince McMahon’s controversial retirement in July of last year, Paul Levesque (Triple H) has overseen WWE’s creative process which, for the most part, was a well received change in terms of audience reception to the company’s weekly product. However, as January rolled around, the first murmurings of Vince McMahon’s return to the company began to appear and, ever since the 77-year-old facilitated a sale of the company, many have wondered whether Triple H would still have control over creative.
Despite the reemergence of Vince, Triple H remained the main person behind WWE creative, although, PWInsider Elite are now reporting that Paul Levesque was absent from last week’s SmackDown will Bruce Pritchard in his place. It’s not yet known why Levesque was absent.
“Paul Levesque was not at Smackdown this past Friday. Bruce Prichard headed up the taping. We are not sure as to why.”
-PWInsider Elite
It remains to be seen whether this was a one-time occurrence or whether Triple H will take a more permanent step back as we move forward.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any updates on WWE’s backstage creative process as we hear more.
