Undertaker Confirms AAA Head Booker Role

The Undertaker has been leading the creative process for AAA.
At WrestleMania 41, WWE announced their purchase of AAA, one of two biggest promotions in Mexico. The company swiftly put their own spin on AAA, adding some of their talent and production values to the lucha-libre product. This has included changes to the booking, with the WWE-style end of show credits showing the involvement of Mark Calaway, known to fans as The Undertaker, as an executive producer. Calaway has long been credited as the head booker of AAA by fans, and the man himself has directly addressed his role.
Talking with Chris Van Vliet, Undertaker noted that he serves as the head of creative for AAA.
“I guess in layman’s terms, I am the head of creative. It’s great when it’s the El Grande storyline, but as soon you throw one storyline out there that sucks, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, he’s horrible. Fire him.’ We’re just making old stuff new again and prove that it still works.”
-The Undertaker
The Undertaker had a career that spanned over 30 years, working with WWE from 1990 to 2020 as an in-ring competitor. During his legendary career, Undertaker became a seven-time World Champion within the company and held a long-standing WrestleMania undefeated streak until Brock Lesnar defeated him at WrestleMania XXX.
Now, as head of creative for AAA, “The Deadman” is helping to showcase the Mexican promotion to a whole new audience. As he mentioned, the feud between the two iterations of El Grande Americano really captured the imagination of the wrestling world when they met in a mask vs. mask match on May 30.
Elsewhere in the interview, Undertaker discussed who on the current WWE roster he’d would’ve liked to face. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on The Undertaker’s AAA role as soon as we hear more.
