This past Sunday saw AEW present their All Out PPV from Chicago, Illinois, a show that saw hometown hero CM Punk defeat Jon Moxley to recapture the AEW World Championship, although it was the reported backstage controversy that would grab the headlines in the shows aftermath.
In addition to the backstage brawl however, CM Punk is also believed to have suffered a triceps injury during his main event match with Moxley. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an update on the severity of the injury, with the AEW World Championship expected to be vacated regardless of the company’s handling of the current champion’s backstage antics.
“Punk injury, believed to be from the tope, is serious. Rumors from Sunday but he hadn’t confirmed them but it’s been confirmed to me no matter what happens discipline-wise that the title situation has to be changed and addressed tonight.”

As of writing, those involved in the backstage conflict are believed to have been suspended by the company, although CM Punk’s status remains up in the air, with the belief being that Punk would need to make major amends in order to remain with the company.
Regardless of how the aftermath of the reported backstage conflict unfolds, we wish CM Punk all the best in his recovery from injury.
