At last night’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event, Bryan Danielson’s mystery replacement to take on Zack Sabre Jr and the newest member of the Blackpool Combat Club was revealed to be Claudio Castagnoli (FKA Cesaro in WWE), with the Swiss Superman defeating the Suzuki-gun member to kick his AEW career off to a good start.

Fightful Select have now provided an update on the terms of Castagnoli’s AEW contract, with the former Cesaro seemingly set to compete in the promotion for the foreseeable future.

“Fightful Select has learned that the terms of the deal were set to be “long term,” though we’re not sure if pen was put to paper yet.”

Fightful also noted that Castagnoli had been training at the Flatbacks in Orlando in order to make his in-ring return last night, with AEW preparing merchandise and promotional material ahead of his arrival.

Finally, Fightful noted that Castagnoli’s debut last night was not the original plan for his arrival, although they were unable to elaborate on the scrapped plans.
