There has been an update as to whether we can expect Vince McMahon to start a new wrestling company.

On January 26, Vince McMahon officially resigned from WWE as a result of the lawsuit brought against him by Janel Grant, alleging cases of abuse and sexual exploitation. Since his controversial departure over Royal Rumble weekend, he has been entirely absent from the company and is unlikely to ever make a return, but some have speculated whether McMahon will make a comeback to the wrestling industry but starting a new promotion.

To provide an update on this, Dave Meltzer has written in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the 78-year-old is eyeing up many potential business ventures, but starting a new wrestling company isn’t an option he is looking to explore.

“From someone very close to Vince McMahon, while he does want to start up business opportunities in the future, which will be difficult until he can clear his name to a degree, the idea of starting a new wrestling promotion is not one of them. The reality is the feeling from most in wrestling that he simply can’t start from scratch and compete against something of the magnitude of WWE.

Given how horrific the nature of the allegations against him is, Vince McMahon’s reluctance to start a new company will come as welcome news to the vast majority involved in the wrestling industry. It’s likely that, even if he was to start a promotion, many would be unwilling to work under him.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Vince McMahon as soon as we hear more.
