WWE Crown Jewel Reportedly Still Going Ahead As Planned, Some Talent “Reasonably Concerned”

Crown Jewel is reportedly still going ahead as planned.

In recent weeks, speculation has been mounting over the status of the upcoming Crown Jewel event, particularly after advice from the US government urged “extreme caution” when it came to using airports in Saudi Arabia. As of writing, though, WWE have given no indication they plan to pivot away from their scheduled trip to Riyadh on November 7, and a new update has suggested the company are still committed to travelling despite some concern.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, it’s believed Crown Jewel is still planned for Saudi Arabia, with on-site sources playing down the situation. However, it’s also noted some WWE personnel are concerned.

“As of now, Crown Jewel is still planned for Saudi Arabia. While things could always change, sources working on-site in Saudi say that they’ve been there, working on the event for weeks, and fully expect the event to go along as planned. Ariel Helwani learned that for the Power Slap event the day before, some members of the production crew will fly into Bahrain and take a five-hour bus to Riyadh for their show. WWE is in town for their Crown Jewel event the next night. Sources on site that we spoke to claimed that the situation was “nowhere near as bad as the media makes it out to be,” but WWE talent and staff we’ve spoken to are reasonably concerned. The U.S. Embassy urged extreme caution for Americans at Saudi airports.”

The closer we get to Crown Jewel, the less likely it becomes there will be a change in WWE’s plan to commit to the original location. As such, preparations for the venue are already well under way, as many fans have seen through videos circulating online.

On the point of talent unrest, it’s worth noting a recent report from Dave Meltzer indicated WWE talent aren’t speaking up too loudly about the event’s potential issues due to the repercussions they could face if they do so. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Crown Jewel as soon as we hear more.
