There is reportedly a belief within WWE that NXT will attract more viewers than AEW Dynamite once they move to CW.

On October 10, all the wrestling world could talk about was the latest instalment of the ratings war between NXT and AEW. Last month saw the first head-to-head clash between the brands in two and a half years, and, on that occasion, WWE’s third brand came out on top.

Attracting more viewers than Dynamite proved to be a tall order when the pair were broadcast every Wednesday night between 2019 and 2021, but, per Haus of Wrestling, it’s believed that NXT’s new deal to be broadcast on the CW network in 2024 has given WWE renewed confidence in drawing more fans than AEW into next year.

Haus of Wrestling is told by a WWE source that, internally, the belief is that NXT viewership will consistently outdraw AEW Dynamite next year, especially when they move to the CW.”

The report notes that WWE are basing their belief in NXT bringing in more viewers on the idea that the CW network is a ‘younger broadcast TV channel’ rather than an ‘ageing cable channel’, theoretically helping the developmental show attract a younger audience.

It was also said that they are trusting in the quality of NXT, with there being a belief in WWE that AEW is a cold product as of late.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on NXT’s move to CW as we hear more.
