WWE are reportedly attempting to bring in a “Major Free Agent” who is not Jay White.

Jay White’s NJPW contract was reported to be up soon a few weeks ago, since then he has recently lost a “loser leaves Japan” match, and is now scheduled to face Eddie Kingston this weekend in a “loser leaves NJPW” match. Of course with Jay White being a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and one of the top starts in NJPW, there has been a lot of speculation about what promotion he ends up at next.

Many assume he will be in AEW or WWE soon, but in an update from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those in WWE that would normally know about talent acquisitions, did not know about any progress being made with Jay White, and mentioned that there is an even bigger free agent at play.

Those in WWE who would normally know of major acquisitions during Mania season didn’t know about this one and only said that there was a much bigger major free agent in play right now that was internally the priority.

Being a bigger free agent than Jay White would leave a pretty short list of people, but there was no hint given on who it may be that WWE is chasing right now.
