WWE Reportedly Seriously Considered Expanding Royal Rumble 2027 Into A Two-Night Event

Next year’s Royal Rumble reportedly almost became two nights.

On August 4, it was announced that Royal Rumble 2027 is set to take place at the State Farm stadium in Glendale, Arizona next February, the same stadium that hosted WrestleMania 26 in March 2010. Now, an update has emerged on how next year’s event almost took on a two-night format for the first time.

According to an update from WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select, it’s believed WWE seriously considered expanding the show to two nights.

“Following the recent news break about the 2027 Royal Rumble event taking place at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, WrestleVotes Radio is told that WWE seriously considered expanding the show to a two-night format, with some internally believing that would ultimately be the direction this year.”

The report notes that, as things currently stand, the expectation within the company is that the 2027 Royal Rumble will remain a one night event. However, with it believed that there’s serious interest within WWE to convert the show to two nights, it’s very possible next February’s Premium Live Event will take place on one day for the final time.

Currently. Only SummerSlam and WrestleMania are two-night events on WWE’s Calendar. It now appears the Royal Rumble may follow this trend in the future, and, if that was the case, it certainly would be suitable for this format with the potential for the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches to be split over two nights.
