Earlier this year, Fightful Select reported that Brian Cage’s AEW contract would be coming up soon, sparking speculation about where his future would lie amid reported mutual interest in a move to WWE. It now appears, however, as though those rumours can be put to rest for the time being.

Fightful Select are now reporting that Brian Cage has signed a new long-term deal with AEW & ROH, following AEW President Tony Khan stating that he was hopeful of keeping Cage and The Embassy with the company following Supercard of Honor.

“Fightful Select has learned that ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion Brian Cage put pen to paper this week, and signed a long-term, multi-year deal to remain with All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor.”

Despite conflicting reports, it is believed that Cage’s original deal ended following the recent Supercard of Honor PPV, effectively making one-third of the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions a free agent.

Fightful noted within the report that several top stars within both AEW and WWE had made attempts to convince cage to sign with their respective companies, however whilst WWE were indeed interested, Cage ended up preferring the offer made by AEW, and thus worked with an agent to see through the process.

This past Friday’s edition of AEW Rampage saw Cage align with Swerve Strickland in order to attack Darby Allin. Fightful confirmed that AEW had been working hard to secure Cage’s signature in the weeks prior, with a deal in principle having been agreed upon by the time creative was pitched for their alliance.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Brian Cage re-signing with AEW/ROH as soon as we hear more.
