Kevin Owens will reportedly miss out on August 5’s WWE SummerSlam.
‘The Prizefighter’ Kevin Owens is currently one half of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions alongside Sami Zayn, with the popular tag team often closing out episodes of Monday Night Raw against members of The Judgment Day. However, during Dominik Mysterio’s North American Championship defence against Sami Zayn, Owens was attacked by both Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley, seemingly writing the 39-year-old off TV for the time being.
To provide an update on Owens’ status, Dave Meltzer has written in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Canadian is expected to miss SummerSlam, confirming that there will be no Tag Team Title defence on the show. Also, the Newsletter backs up previous reports that Austin Theory’s United States Championship defence against the winner of the invitational tournament will take place on SmackDown rather than the August 5 Premium Live Event. It was also mentioned that Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Rodriguez is also yet to be added.
“The only match not announced is Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez for the World women’s title. We were told that as of last word, it was still on the show, although they are doing a knee injury angle with Rodriguez.
The tag titles won’t be on the show with Kevin Owens getting time off due to his broken rib and at least as of last word the next U.S. title match with Austin Theory against the Rey Mysterio vs. Santos Escobar match on 7/28 would be on Smackdown.”

As of writing, there is no indication as to how long Kevin Owens will be absent from WWE TV, with it previously reported that he had been working through the fractured rib injury for a couple of weeks.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Kevin Owens and his injury status as we hear more.
