An interesting detail regarding RUSH’s contract negation has now been revealed.

Following weeks of speculation, sparked lagerly by the man himself, RUSH took to Twitter on July 24th to confirm that he had re-signed with AEW amid reports of WWE’s interest. RUSH had previously teased that he could be making the jump to link up with his brother, Dragon Lee, although those rumours can now be put to rest.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an update on RUSH’s AEW contract extension, revealing that 34-year-old’s previous deal had actually expired before re-signing with the promotion.

“Rush (William Munoz, 34) signed a new deal after his existing deal had just expired.”

Meltzer then dived deeper into the length and financial terms of the deal, noting that the LFI leader is believed to have signed for multiple years, adding that whilst WWE were aware they’d need to offer RUSH significantly more money than a typical NXT contract, they never made an official offer due to their belief that AEW had offered him substantially more than they were willing to fork out for him.

“The belief is the new deal is multiple years. Regarding the WWE situation with him, the explanation from multiple people there is that they were interested in him for NXT and understood that they’d have to make him an offer much bigger than just about anyone in NXT (obviously not Gable Steveson but bigger than anyone else) because he’d get a big offer from AEW. However, WWE never made an official offer because when they found out what AEW offered, they knew there was no way he was going to WWE. Someone in WWE called the offer “insane money.”

RUSH has been absent from in-ring action in AEW since the May 24th episode of Rampage, although with new terms having been agreed, it’s likely that we’ll be seeing him back on our screens sooner rather than later.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on RUSH re-signing with AEW as soon as we hear more.
