GUNTHER Says He Doesn’t Feel Alone In WWE Without Imperium

GUNTHER discusses no longer being flanked by Imperium in WWE.
Back in 2019 during their time in NXT UK, WALTER, Marcel Barthel, Fabian Aichner, and Alexander Wolfe united to form Imperium, with the group becoming a dominant force across NXT in both the United Kingdom and United States. However, the faction now finds itself with only two of its original four members still signed to WWE, although the men now known as GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser are currently walking very different paths.
Speaking to Italian Wrestling Channel in the build-up to Clash in Italy, GUNTHER was asked whether he feels alone in WWE now that Imperium is no longer by his side, to which he noted that he is comfortable with where he currently finds himself in the company.
“No, I don’t feel alone. I’ve been on my own most of my career. I always had partners, but then everybody goes their individual ways. That’s part of it. It was a great time. It was a great way into the main roster, but no. I’m very good how I am right now.”

Alexander Wolfe was kicked out of Imperium in May 2021, with Fabian Aichner departing the group the following year ahead of GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser making their way to WWE’s main roster. After being repackaged as Giovanni Vinci, the Italian star would reunite with the pair in late 2022.
The trio’s reunion would ultimately prove short-lived, however, as Giovanni Vinci was kicked out of Imperium in April 2024 before the group quietly dissolved entirely later that year.
After making the move from Monday Night RAW to Friday Night SmackDown, GUNTHER is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash in Italy on Sunday, May 31 in Turin.
Ludwig Kaiser, meanwhile, currently finds himself primarily performing for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide as El Grande Americano and is positioned as one of the promotion’s most popular babyfaces, with a mask vs. mask match against ‘The Original’ El Grande Americano set for AAA Noche de Los Grandes on May 30.
Following a lengthy absence from in-ring action after being released by WWE on February 8, 2025, Giovanni Vinci made his TNA Wrestling debut on May 14, reverting to his real name Fabian Aichner, and is set for his first in-ring outing for the promotion on this Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact against Eddie Edwards.
AEW Women’s World Championship holder Thekla recently stated that she believes it is a tight race between herself and GUNTHER over who is currently Austria’s best professional wrestler. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the futures of GUNTHER, Ludwig Kaiser, and Fabian Aichner as soon as we hear more.
