Jim Ross Believes His AEW Contract Is Up In August

Jim Ross’s AEW contract could be set to expire this summer.
AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 24 saw Jim Ross return to the commentary desk for the AEW Continental Championship match between Jon Moxley and Kyle O’Reilly. Following the appearance, ‘Good Ol’ JR’ has now provided an update on his future with All Elite Wrestling.
While detailing his travel to New York City for AEW Double or Nothing on the latest episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross revealed that he believes his All Elite Wrestling contract is set to expire in August and that he is uncertain about what the future holds.
“I don’t have a lot more time left on my contract. I talked to Barry Bloom, my agent. He was in New York and we chatted about my status, and I’m just gonna let it play out. If Tony Khan wants to keep me, he will. And if he doesn’t, then he won’t, — I’ll keep everybody posted. My deal is up, I think, sometime in August. I believe that’s true. That’s how focused I am on my contract. I’m past the worrying about it stage and all that. I’m just not gonna do it. It takes the fun out of things.”

Following a lengthy absence due to illness, Jim Ross returned to the All Elite Wrestling commentary desk at AEW All In: Texas in July of last year and has since made sporadic appearances for the company at various pay-per-view events.
At the time of writing, it remains unclear when Jim Ross will next return to commentary for All Elite Wrestling. The company’s next pay-per-view event is AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, the collaborative show with New Japan Pro-Wrestling set for June 28 at the SAP Center in San Jose.
