High-Level WWE Official Reportedly “Went To Bat” For Sheamus With TKO

Sheamus had the support from a high-level WWE official over his contract offer.
This past Sunday, July 5, Fightful Select reported that Sheamus is set to leave WWE upon the expiration of his contract after turning down a restructured extension, much like The New Day did earlier this year.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, a high-level WWE official “went to bat” for Sheamus, making his value to the company clear to TKO.
“WrestleVotes learned that an unnamed high-level member of the WWE office went to TKO and “went to bat” for Sheamus. That individual dove into the value that Sheamus brings to the company that stretches beyond his in-ring contributions.”

With the former four-time world champion entering free agency, many fans have speculated whether Sheamus, real name Stephen Farrelly, could potentially make the move to All Elite Wrestling.
The WrestleVotes report additionally notes that a person close to Sheamus believes he would welcome the opportunity to compete for AEW, even if it was only on a short-term basis, should the opportunity arise.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Sheamus now that his almost two-decade-long WWE tenure is over.
On the topic of contractual news involving Irishmen who have held world championship gold in WWE, Finn Bálor revealed earlier today that he initially planned to sign a ten-year deal with New Japan Pro-Wrestling before ultimately joining WWE. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Sheamus following his WWE departure as soon as we hear more.
