The Young Bucks Were “Hands-On” With Creation Of AEW Redemption Match
The Young Bucks had a heavy influence over their match with the Death Riders at AEW Redemption.
At the newest AEW PPV, fans were shocked by the in-ring storytelling going on, as the Young Bucks faced Continental Champion Jon Moxley and newest Death Rider member Will Ospreay. Within a minute or so of the match, Nick had a “head injury” that triggered Ospreay, making him fear for the man and resulting in many instances of him refusing to “pull the trigger” to get the win for his team. The Young Bucks got the win, and fans praised the match afterward for beating expectations. On the latest episodes of Being The Elite, Matt Jackson admitted that the duo was “hands-on” with how the match itself came together:
“I don’t like to give away too many secrets nowadays, but Nick and I were very hands-on and influential with this match happening. So there’s a lot of ownership here at stake personally for me. I really want this to succeed. Not that I don’t always want everything to succeed, but even more so today.”

One of the reasons that this match took many aback was because it wasn’t a “high-octane spot fest,” which many predicted it would be. Instead, it directly reinforced the storyline going on between Will Ospreay, Jon Moxley, and Kenny Omega, asking whether Ospreay was “fully committed” to the Death Riders mindset, or whether he was still the man that many cheer for.
The Young Bucks have performed many incredible matches in 2026, including “Match Of The Year” contenders against FTR, Okada/Takeshita, and more. Their future, thanks to the AEW Redemption win, has been set, as they’ll face Copeland & Cage at AEW All In: London, which the Young Bucks have said before was one of the last “big money matches” left in their career, which you can read about here.
