The New Day Release ‘Daybreak’ Video Package
Austin Creed and Kofi have released a ‘Daybreak’ video package.
Recently, those affected by the post-WrestleMania WWE releases all became free agents able to sign for other promotions, leading many to wonder whether we aren’t far away from seeing The New Day return to the ring. While Kofi and Creed weren’t part of the same batch of cuts, the pair were granted their release due to a contract dispute just days after the initial round of firings, prompting fans to conclude that they too will be free to wrestle elsewhere very soon. Now, it seems the former WWE Tag Team Champions are building anticipation for their next move.
Today, the duo released a video on social media called “Daybreak,” signaling the freedom that was at hand for them.
The symbolism in the video is both intentional and numerous in its references. For example, Kofi and Austin are represented by unicorns, which is a nod to how they dressed during one of the New Day’s biggest runs in WWE. Second, they were depicted in a circus, something which could be commentary on their recent fallout with the company, although that’s left up to fans’ interpretation.
Then, there were the gold chains that the duo were seen breaking out from, possibly being a reference to feeling stagnant towards the end of their WWE run despite signing new deals in 2024. Arguably the biggest nod, though, was when the two looked at a third unicorn who had a broken horn. That unicorn nodded at them to continue on without them, undoubtedly a nod to Big E, the third man of The New Day who sustained a serious neck injury in 2022 and later on retired from in-ring work. At present, the former WWE Champion still works for the company as an announcer.
The ending of the video is just as symbolic, as we see the true forms of Kofi and Austin Creed walk off toward the sun, their horns now lying on the ground, symbolizing how they are now treading a new path in their careers. While it’s widely expected the pair will end up heading to All Elite Wrestling, nothing has yet been made official regarding their future.
