Randy Orton and Kevin Owen’s Reportedly Expected To Return To WWE Soon
Kevin Owen’s and Randy Orton are both reportedly set to be returning to WWE soon.
As of writing, Kevin Owens has not been seen on since March 2025, having undergone neck surgery last July. “The Prizefighter” has been a big miss across WWE TV since unfortunately having to be pulled from his advertised match with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41. Speaking of “The Viper”, Orton himself has been missing from our screens since losing to Cody Rhodes on the first night of WrestleMania 42, with it believed he was suffering with back pain heading into the match. Now, it seems both men could be primed for a return.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed both Owen’s and Orton are expected to return soon.
“Orton and Owens are both expected to return very soon, Orton perhaps in the next week. Owens has dropped weight after a lengthy and frustratingly long recovery from neck surgery. Orton was one of those guys who claimed he wasn’t injured, and just taking the summer off, but in fact he was injured. He was scheduled to beat Rhodes at Mania unless they felt his back was not going to allow it. When they realised this was the case, all kind of plans were changed. There are many different ways to go here. I would suspect Punk retains. With Randy Orton and Kevin Owens on their way back there are now fresh opponents for both”

With CM Punk now WWE Champion on the SmackDown brand and if Owens and Orton were to both return to SmackDown, they could very easily be new challengers for Punk to face for his title. Orton vs. Punk would be the renewal of a rivalry that dates back to 2008, as well as a marquee match at WrestleMania 27 in which Orton defeated Punk.
On the other hand, Punk vs. Owens has been a certified dream match for many years. With their incredible mic and in ring work, this would be a rivalry that would certainly captivate WWE fans.
With WWE Summerslam taking place this weekend on August 1 and 2, it could be the perfect time for either star to make their return to the company.
