Daniel Garcia Praises Jon Moxley For “Turning AEW Around”

Daniel Garcia has lots of praise for the leader of the Death Riders.

Since its inception in 2019, All Elite Wrestling has always had an incredibly passionate fanbase who are willing to make their voices heard. At present, sentiment around the company is strong, although it’s fair to say there been bumps in the road in recent years. Particularly towards the end of 2024, many viewers felt as if the promotion had veered away from its mission to provide an alternative to WWE, with wrestlers on-screen even talking about wanting to “restore the feeling”. Now, Daniel Garcia has revealed who he believes was key in turning things round.

In a chat with Thrive with Alex Sagot, Garcia credited Jon Moxley with turning the ship around for AEW.

“AEW, I would say like a year ago or two years ago, was in an interesting spot where I feel like it lost a lot of goodwill with the fans, and a lot of the fans didn’t really feel like it was the AEW that first belonged to them. AEW was brought into the wrestling world as an alternative as something to be different from WWE. And I feel like AEW got to a place where the fans felt like we weren’t really an alternative anymore. We were just kind of falling into the same patterns that other wrestling companies have fell into. And Mox, in my opinion, turned the ship around, man. He turned the ship around. And I won’t share his story completely, it’s amazing, the thing that he told me about this. But he really decided that he needed to take control and turn the ship around, and he did exactly that. And AEW is in a much better place right now than it was when it was a year ago.”

In times of uncertainty, AEW has often turned to Jon Moxley. The 40-year-old stands alone as the only four-time world champion in company history, and, after the culmination of his most recent reign crowned Hangman Page in a feel-good moment, the leader of the Death Riders is now the Continental Champion.
