AEW Reveals Full Continental Challenge Cup Lineup, Rules, And First Round Matchups
The full lineup for the AEW Continental Challenge Cup has been revealed.
On last week’s Collision, AEW announced the Continental Challenge Cup, a single-elimination tournament for the Continental Championship. With the final taking place at Wembley Stadium on August 30, the company is drawing inspiration from English football’s FA Cup, the oldest cup competition in the sport. Now, 26 days away from All In, the full lineup for the tournament has been revealed, with the action kicking off this week.
During a Selection Special, the entire 16-man bracket was revealed.
A key aspect of the tournament is that matchups will be confirmed via a blind draw, playing homage to how matches are determined in the FA Cup.
In the first round, fans can look forward to Nigel McGuinness vs. Katsuyori Shibata, Roderick Strong vs. Kyle O’Reilly, reigning champion Jon Moxley vs. Jack Perry, and much more.
Since its inception in 2023, the Continental Championship has been a key part of All Elite Wrestling. In particular, the Continental Classic hailed as one of the best additions to the AEW calendar, taking place late in the year winter and providing fans with strong, round-robin action which concludes at the Worlds End pay-per-view. Now, fans have a second yearly tournament to look forward to in relation to the gold.
