Buddy Matthews is officially cleared to get back into the ring, and he’s ready.

In February 2025, during the first AEW Grand Slam: Australia event, Buddy Matthews had a took on Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship. However, the star unfortunately suffered an ankle injury during the contest which sidelined him for around months of his career, halting his momentum alongside Brody King. Now, after teasing a return around Redemption, it seems Matthews could be ready to go.

On Instagram, he made it known that he’s now cleared to wrestle.

As for what he’ll do when he returns, that’s unclear. Previously, he was in the “Hounds of Hell” with Brody King and Julia Hart, however, both of them are now in new groups. Julia is with the Triangle of Madness, alongside Skye Blue and Thekla. As for Brody King, his tag team with Bandido captured the hearts of fans in 2025, and the duo won the AEW World Trios Championships on last night’s Dynamite.

That’s not to say that he can’t find his place in the company once more, though, as most agree he has the talent and ability to stand on his own. His return could provide the perfect opportunity for him to make waves as a singles competitor.
