TNA Breaks Down What Is At Stake For Leon Slater At Lockdown

HJ1tiqQXMAE1fk3

TNA has confirmed exactly what will happen to Leon Slater’s historic X-Division Championship reign if he loses to Cedric Alexander at Lockdown.

Cedric Alexander will defend the X-Division Championship against Leon Slater inside a steel cage on Sunday, August 23, at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Alexander agreed to the rematch on last week’s Impact on the condition that Slater’s entire reign be scrubbed from TNA history if the champion retains, and Slater accepted.

The company has now spelled out what that would mean. TNA would no longer recognise Slater’s reign, with the official title history instead recording the championship as passing directly from Moose to Cedric Alexander, while the months Slater held the belt would be listed as a period of inactivity. Amazing Red would be restored as the youngest X-Division Champion in company history, while Austin Aries would once again stand alone as the holder of the record for the longest reign.

Leon Slater defeated Moose at Slammiversary on July 20, 2025, to win the title at 20 years old, taking the record for youngest champion away from Amazing Red, who had held it since 2003. He held the championship for 298 days, matching Austin Aries for the longest reign in the title’s history, before Cedric Alexander defeated him in a two-out-of-three falls match on the May 14, 2026, episode of Impact.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the card for TNA Lockdown as soon as we hear more.
