Místico Says He Wants To Challenge For The AEW World Championship

Místico has made it known that he wants to fight for AEW’s top prize.

The legend of Místico continues to grow, with the luchador currently standing as the biggest draw in Mexico. He has played a major role in CMLL selling out Arena México a record number of times.

Místico currently holds multiple championships, including the Ring of Honor Tag Team Titles. However, in a conversation with Dave Meltzer, as revealed by Místico’s translator, he revealed that he has an even bigger prize in mind.

“For Místico right now, obviously it’s about conquering the United States that has the eyes of the world when it comes to wrestling. And by that, he means conquering AEW. He would love to have a chance at the AEW World Heavyweight Title. He says people like [Jon] Moxley, [Will] Ospreay, MJF, he’s beaten a few names in that list, and he would love to have that opportunity to be a part of a World Heavyweight Title match in AEW. And why not conquer AEW after proving everything he’s done here in Mexico and around the world?”

Currently, Místico is one of several wrestlers under dual contracts with AEW and CMLL, and he has already won AEW gold after capturing the trios titles alongside JetSpeed at Revolution in March. Despite that success, when it comes to singles championships, he has yet to receive a true opportunity to challenge the champions who hold them.

If Místico were to pursue the AEW World Championship right now, he would face either Kenny Omega or Will Ospreay, depending on the outcome at All In: London. Both would be dream matches and could potentially headline a future AEW pay-per-view.

That could mean Místico once again enters the Casino Gauntlet at Wembley Stadium, or that he receives a push following the event. Either way, should Místico challenge for the AEW World Championship, it will be a match that draws plenty of attention.
