Swerve Strickland Talks Being The New Third Man With New Level
Swerve Strickland discussed joining up with New Level in AEW.
On Sunday, during the opening contest of All In: London, Swerve Strickland brought in Austin Creed and Kofi, now called New Level, to capture the AEW Trios Championships. The reception to the arrival of New Level has been overwhelmingly positive, especially with them adding another layer to the trios division. However, for many, it remains a shame that Kofi and Creed aren’t able to compete alongside Big E as part of their new venture outside WWE. Now, Strickland has addressed being the third man alongside the former WWE World Tag Team Champions.
Speaking to Black Couch Booking, Strickland noted that he wants to move forward and do something new.
“You want to shake the doubt of the people that were already gonna have negativity towards it like, ‘Man, it’s not Big E.’ Shoutout Big E. I can never replace a Big E, but we can do something new that moves forward instead of looking backwards. That’s why New Level, the song with Ferg and Future on the track, all these things just hit at the right time at the right place with the right people to put a shockwave into the energy of the wrestling world all at one encapsulating time.”

Since debuting in AEW, The New Level have been incredibly open about their eagerness to get to work with the company. For example, they’ve discussed being 100% open to finally doing a match with The Elite, something many fans have wanted for years. You can read more about that here.

As for Big E, he remains as an on-screen panellist for WWE having officially retired from the ring due to a serious neck injury he suffered in 2022. However, it’s worth noting that he has shown support for Kofi and Austin Creed’s move to AEW, saying on social media that you have to go where you’re valued. Now, attention turns to what Swerve and The New Level can do as a team.
