Swerve Strickland : All Out Trios Title Match Was The True Definition Of What AEW Is

All Out Trios Titles

Swerve Strickland has high praise for his trios match at AEW All Out.

While there have been bumps in the road since their inception, the AEW World Trios Championships have been at the centre of some of the most exciting action in company history, including the now-famous Elite vs. Death Triangle best-of-seven series. Most recently, the division has received a major spotlight, as Swerve Strickland ushered in Kofi and Austin Creed of The New Level as he mystery partners at All In. After their capture of the gold that night, their next pay-per-view appearance came at last weekend’s All Out against Hangman Page and Brodido in a match most felt was the standout of the night. Now, Strickland has shared what he liked about his recent trios match.

During his talk with SI Wrestling, Strickland said the AEW World Trios Championship match at All Out was what the company is all about.

“That was the true definition of what All Elite Wrestling is all about. It’s taking guys from, six guys from six truly different aspects of wrestling, different spaces, different places. I’m the only one from Lucha Underground from any of those guys. Bandido, truly one of the perennial talents to come from Mexico like I will say ever, I will genuinely die on my sword and say ever and he’s only getting better and only growing still young. Brody King, like literally came from Ring of Honor and doing all the things like PWG that style of wrestling and stuff like that. Hangman Page, one of the pillars of AEW, truly created Elite, the Elite in All Elite Wrestling and New Japan. New Day, New Level now, with all their history, so everybody’s coming from different walks of life, but can still manage to create something special in the ring together and in synch, chemistry, hatred feuds, lucha, big man, strong style, all these things and story. It’s everything you could want out of pro wrestling all molded into one and that’s what All Elite Wrestling has always been about. That’s the lifeblood of what AEW is, that match right there.”

The match was boosted by building upon the established story of Hangman vs. Swerve, which will definitely be something to keep an eye on as things in the trios division progress. From Full Gear 2023 to All Out 2024, the pair shared arguably the most intense rivalry in company history to date, and their feud has now added extra legitimacy to the AEW World Trios Championships.

Not only that, but it also birthed new stories, such as Kofi challenging Bandido for the ROH World Championship at Grand Slam: France. You can find the full lineup for the upcoming show here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Swerve Strickland as soon as we hear more.
