Swerve Strickland Wants Rivalry With Hangman Page To Be One Of The Best Ever

Swerve Strickland knows his rivalry with Hangman Adam Page is special, but he also wants to keep taking it to the next level.
In wrestling, promotions often establish lifelong rivalries that they can continually go back to reward its audience for investing in the story of two wrestlers. When it comes to AEW, perhaps the best example is Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page, with many fans putting their feud up there with the best of the modern era. Now, Strickland has confirmed that’s how he wants his dynamic with Hangman to be remembered.
In a chat with SI Wrestling, Swerve commented wanting the rivalry to be considered one of the greatest in history when all is said and done.
“I hope one day it goes down as one of the greatest in wrestling history. I want it to be that big and that important and that impactful. When two guys tag in and the entire arena stands up, like as a wave of people standing up to see what happens next, that’s when you know you got something special. And that’s when you know that doesn’t come around very often. There’s promotions for the last 20 years trying to capture that out of two people. And who would have thought it would be myself and Hangman Page?”

When the rivalry first started, many weren’t sure what to expect, but Swerve quickly outlined his intention to overtake Hangman in the pecking order, claiming Page had become complacent. Through that motivation, the feud became deeply personal, and both men carried the effects of their rivalry long after their last singles match.
To that point, they most recently met in a match for the AEW World Trios Championships as Swerve Strickland and The New Level took on Hangman Page and Brodido at All Out. The contest was considered by many to be among the best of the night, and Strickland himself said elsewhere in the interview that it summed up everything that AEW is about. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on both Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland as soon as we hear more.
