Will Ospreay will face Adam Copeland as part of Clockwork Carnage, but he still wants a singles match before Copeland retires.

Tonight, at WrestleDream, Will Ospreay will bring the Clockwork Carnage match to AEW for the first time. Among his seven challengers is Adam Copeland, who announced his plans to retire in 2027 during this past week’s Dynamite, elevating the importance of every title opportunity he gets between now and the end of his career. Looking ahead to tonight’s match, the AEW World Champion has now reflected on his connection to Copeland’s career and journey.

In a chat with 1010XL, Will Ospreay discussed watching Adam Copeland growing up, noting how helpful the legend was when Ospreay went in for neck surgery.

“I grew up watching Adam, and meeting him in person was such a cool thing for me because a lot of people say never meet your heroes. But meeting him, he’s brought me such relief, especially going down my path when I was going in for neck surgery, he was amazing with all of that. He was great to be an ear and a great voice to be able to listen to because he’s went through it himself. I’m super grateful for his presence in AEW, and I’m hoping if this is gonna be the last run of his career, of course I’m flattered to be in the Clockwork Carnage with him. Everything is gonna be about making sure that I keep that championship, but then I just kind of want to say to Adam Copeland, you’ve got to save a date for me, boss.”

Ospreay and Copeland sharing the ring tonight is something few fans thought they’d ever see just a few short years ago. Regardless of how much they interact during Clockwork Carnage, it seems “The Aerial Assassin” is incredibly keen to mix it up with the former WWE Champion before the curtain falls on his career.

Plus, if a one-on-one clash between them is the direction, Ospreay may well be in a rush to get the match finalised, particularly as Tony Khan himself recently admitted he doesn’t know how far into 2027 Copeland will want to wrestle. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on both Adam Copeland and Will Ospreay as soon as we hear more.
