The May 4th edition of AEW Dynamite saw Wardlow defeat W Morrisey in an impressive showing for the former Big Cass.
Morrisey wasn’t the only pitched opponent for Wardlow for this edition of Dynamite however, as Fightful Select are now reporting that AEW approached the former Karrion Kross, now known as Killer Kross, regarding appearing on the episode.
“Killer Kross, formerly Karrion Kross, was approached for the match against Wardlow. However, we’re told the two sides couldn’t come to terms for the appearance and decided against it.”
-Fightful
Fightful futher elaborated on the details regarding the plans falling through, with the absence of Kross’s real-life girlfriend Scarlett being a key factor.
“Where we’ve heard that talks fell apart was as the date got closer, Kross became aware that his wife Scarlett would not be a part of the presentation in All Elite Wrestling. Kross was concerned that his introduction to the AEW audience would mimic that of his WWE debut against Jeff Hardy, as opposed to the successful NXT formula that helped lead him to two NXT Championships.”
-Fightful
Fightful noted that despite these plans falling through, Kross and AEW remain on good terms, and the door remains open for a potential appearance in the future.
AEW President Tony Khan revealed that he enjoyed Kross and Scarlett’s work during the ROH Supercard of Honor XV post-show media scrum, and that he’d be open to working with both in the future. Time will tell as to whether we’ll see the pair in AEW in the near future.
