With AEW providing yet another incredible night of pro-wrestling last night at Double or Nothing, eyes are now on the future of the company, with the historic Forbiddeb Door PPV just around the corner.
Looking even further past that however, it appears as though AEW are planning to return to the Arthur Ashe stadium once again later this year, as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is now reporting that the venue is now locked in for AEW Grand Slam in mid September.
“It will be mid September on a Wednesday night in Arthur Ashe stadium, they’ve got it booked”
-Dave Meltzer
Last year’s AEW Grand Slam saw the then AEW World Champion Kenny Omega go to a time limit draw with Bryan Danielson, with Dave Meltzer giving the bout 5 stars on his match rating system.
Last night’s Double or Nothing PPV event saw CM Punk capture the AEW World Championship from Hangman Adam Page, kickstarting yet another Summer of Punk. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for AEW in the wake of Double or Nothing, with both Forbidden Door and AEW Grand Slam promising to build upon an already phenomenal 2022.
