Welcome to WrestlePurists’ live coverage of AEW Rampage on April 1st 2022!

The Young Bucks defeat Top Flight by Pinfall

Great tag action, as both teams traded back and forth pretty evenly throughout the match. Darius Martin looked like he had the win in hand, but the Bucks got the last minute advantage with a BTE Trigger to Darius, followed by a pinfall by Nick Jackson for the win.

In-Ring Promo with Dan Lambert, Scorpio Sky, Paige Van Zant, and Ethan Page

Lambert and Paige opened by commenting on the photos Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara took with the TNT Title, and refused to give Sammy a rematch for the title. Conti and Sammy responded by trashing Lambert’s vehicle with a sledgehammer then spray-painting it.

Backstage interview with Tony Shiavone interviewing Hook

Tony introduced Hook and was immediately interrupted by Danhausen, who claimed he’s there to take over the airwaves. He then attempted cursing Hook for a second time and was flabbergasted by it’s subsequent failure.

The House of Black defeats the Dark Order and Fuego Del Sol by Pinfall

The House of Black absolutely dominated throughout most of this trios match. Fuego and Dark Order attempted comebacks at a few points but were foiled at each turn. After a back and forth that looked like Del Sol might get the upper hand, he is folded in half by a superkick from Black who then pins Fuego for the win.

Backstage Promo from the Young Bucks with Brandon Cutler

The Bucks listed their many tag team accolades while accepting the challenge from FTR.

Jamie Hayter defeats Skye Blue by Pinfall

A competitive match between these two up-and-coming stars. Lots of back and forth with Hayter having the advantage a lot of the time. Hayter got the pinfall after a ripcord lariat.

Backstage Promo with Penta Oscuro and Alex Abrahantes

Penta said, and Alex translated, that the House of Black shouldn’t forget about Death Triangle, and they’ll get burned by them soon.

Mark Henry interviews Powerhouse Hobbs and Keith Lee backstage

Hobbs interrupts Henry immediately saying he deserves the attention, and that Lee will bask in defeat. Lee acknowledges Hobbs strength, but says Hobbs will learn to respect those that came before him.

Keith Lee defeats Powerhouse Hobbs by Pinfall

The crowd was very much behind Keith Lee from the outset. The two big men attempted to overpower each other throughout, until Ricky Starks ran in with a chair. He was quickly foiled, first by Lee then an intervening Swerve Strickland. After a little more back and forth, Lee got the pinfall over Hobbs. Ricky Starks then destroyed Swerve with a ro-sham-bo through the timekeepers table, while Hobbs took a chair to Lee’s back. Team Taz then continue working Lee over before Hobbs finished things by spearing Lee through a table in the corner.
