Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has been absent from AEW TV since dropping the title to Hangman Adam Page in November of last year due to a plethora of injuries, although if a new report is to be believed, a return to the ring for The Cleaner may be on the cards over the coming months.
Last week, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that a third installment of The Young Bucks vs FTR was being held off on due to the Bucks having a “major angle” that has yet to come to fruition in the works. This prompted Fightful Select to dive deeper into the Young Bucks’ plans, leading to the revelation that the rumour being referred to by Meltzer involved Kenny Omega.
The Young Bucks were previously expected to face off against FTR this September at All Out, although plans now appear to have shifted towards a 6-man tag team match involving a returning Omega.
“Fightful Select has learned that the tentative plans that certain staff was made aware of was that Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks were slated for a 6-man tag program for September’s All Out PPV.”

The report then notes, however, that Fightful have yet to confirm this rumour with AEW officials, and thus anything could change. Thus far, this report is solely based on what talent and staff have been told, with neither the company nor Omega himself confirming that a return is on the cards in the near future.
Omega confirmed to Fightful earlier this year that his original timetable for a return was the Forbidden Door PPV, although he ultimately felt that this was too soon. Omega also briefly returned to the company in a backstage capacity earlier this year, however he removed himself due to the belief that his involvement was slowing down his recovery process.
We certainly can’t wait to see Kenny Omega get back in the ring for AEW, and we look forward to seeing what’s in store for him when the time is right.
