AJ Styles Clarifies His WWE Performance Center Coaching Role Is Only Temporary
AJ Styles has clarified that he isn’t a full-time coach at the Performance Center.
Around two weeks ago, AJ Styles revealed that he’d started taking over a coaching role at the Performance Center. This added to the duties he’d already been carrying out since hanging up his boots, including being a talent scout for the company, however it now seems his newfound job as a coach isn’t something he’s been assigned on a permanent basis.
Speaking on the latest edition of the AJ Styles Show, Styles clarified his current coaching role.
“One of our coaches had to get knee surgery. I have now taken his place until he’s back. I am not a coach per se that’s down here every week. I am just filling in until he’s back. That’s it. I’m actually having a lot of fun with it, and I’m trying to make everything that we do very, very practical. Because this is what I see going on, so we’re going to do this and this right here and make sense of why you’re doing it. I want to see your feetwork, feetwork or footwork, I’m not sure how you say that, but little things like that. I’m changing stuff up a little bit because the more you do the same thing over and over, the less you want to come to class and work hard. It gets redundant, so I’m trying to change things up a little bit, but not take away from what they already know.”

Styles’ legendary career came to an end at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event earlier this year. At the hands of GUNTHER, “The Phenomenal One” retired in Saudi Arabia almost exactly 10 years on from his iconic WWE debut, with the star opting to take some backstage roles within the company rather than continue wrestling elsewhere.
As mentioned, Styles currently works as a talent scout for WWE, but he’s also gained experience as a producer. In fact, he was one of the agents in charge of the recent NXT Underground match between Lola Vice and Kendal Grey. You can read more about that here.
